This isn’t a typical trip report since we were technically only an hour from home, but I wanted to share video from this past weekend.
My wife and I drove out from Seattle to Gold Bar, WA to hike up to Wallace Falls. We arrived at the trailhead around 8:30am. The parking lot was fairly empty. We hiked up to the upper falls which is about 2.75 miles from the trailhead making for a 5.5 mile roundtrip hike. The last mile or so is pretty steep. The upper falls weren’t all that impressive. We really enjoyed the view from the middle falls and valley outlook.
When we made it back to the trailhead around 11:30am, the parking lot was completely full. I would definitely recommend getting there before 9am. It was nice to be on the trail with less people. On our hike back down there were significantly more people on the trail. Overall, it was a moderate hike with beautiful views of the waterfall. If you have the chance to get out and explore the outdoors when you’re in Seattle, I highly suggest doing so.
