Travel Tip: Hotel Luggage Storage

Your flight doesn’t leave until 8pm, but you have to check out of your hotel at 12pm. What do you do? If you’re like us, you don’t want to waste your time sitting in the airport. You’d much rather be exploring whatever city you’re visiting.

The same goes for if you’re arriving before you can check-in for your room. What do you do with your luggage?

Something that we learned during our honeymoon was that pretty much every hotel has some type of luggage storage.┬áThis service is usually free (although we did have one hotel charge us $2/bag). Upon picking up our bags, we usually tip the concierge or bellman a couple of bucks. Most hotels are more than willing to provide this service as long as you will be checking into the hotel later that day or you’ve just checked out of the hotel.

By using hotel luggage storage, you don’t have to worry about hauling that carry-on with you wherever you go. Plus from a security standpoint, thieves are much more likely to target someone rolling around their carry-on luggage.

We have found that utilizing this hotel service gives us more time to explore our travel destinations. And the best part is… it’s pretty much free!
