British Airways Sale: SEA to AMS/CDG (Under $400 RT)

I recently posted a link to a fare deal on my personal Facebook profile and had a lot of people interested in how to go about booking this deal. I figured it’d be easier to write a blog post than to explain to each person individually.

These deals tend to only last a few days so I suggest booking sooner rather than later. Keep in mind that you can always call and cancel your flight within 24 hours and receive a full refund.

Here is a link to the specific fare deal: Europe on Sale: Seattle to Amsterdam for $325, Paris $340. For the sake of this post, I am just going to focus on the Seattle to Amsterdam deal (mostly because I’ve been to Amsterdam and loved it).

Here’s a step by step guide on how to find this fare:

Step 1: Use Google Flights

First things first, find the fare on Google Flights. You can go to google and search: “SEA to AMS flights”.

You’ll then need to select your dates. For the sake of this example, I selected September 10 – September 17.

If you want to see more dates, just click on the date box and you’ll see a lovely calendar, which show RT fare rates.

So find dates that work for you. Then figure out which specific flights those are. You can pull up this same itinerary by using this link: BA Flights Only 9/10-9/17. For this first example I choose to fly only on British Airways flights. You’ll see why in a moment.

Step 2: Use British Airways

Now to get the discount you must use THIS link: BA AARP Discount Link

Long story short, this link gives you the AARP discount, which is $65 off economy flights. You’ll notice at the top of my screenshot it says AARP member discounts. Make sure it’s showing this when you go to search. Now plug in the dates that you identified above.

You’ll be presented with several flight options for that day. Select the flights you noted in your google flight search.

Outbound Flight:

Inbound Flight:

Click continue and you should see this page:

If you selected only British Airways flights, you can use the promo code: CARDOFFERU. This will give you a 10% discount. Keep in mind you HAVE to pay with a Chase credit card to get this discount.

This is what you should see after the 10% CARDOFFERU discount and if you scroll to the bottom of the page you’ll see the discount being applied.

That’s all there is to it. Now if you’re using the promo code be sure to pay with a Chase credit card.

Alternative Booking Option

Now I wanted to offer one more scenario. You may notice there are also American Airlines flights on sale as well. You can book these, but keep in mind that you can’t use the CARDOFFERU promo code.

Here is another flight option I found while searching. The outbound flight is the same, but the inbound flight (back to the US) is on American Airlines. If you want to pull it up on google flights yourself use this link: Non-BA Flights 9/10-9/17. You may notice it is about $28 cheaper than the other option I found on Google Flights.

So then I selected this American Airlines flight on British Airways website:

When I got to the checkout page I received this error:

It’s obviously only $7 more, but I just wanted to point out how the CARDOFFERU promo code worked.

Hopefully this will help some of you who were curious about booking this flight deal. You can also find flights to Paris for only $40-60 more. Again, these deals typically last for 2-3 days so I suggest booking as soon as possible. You’ll also earn miles for these paid flights. You can credit these flights to other airlines and earn Alaska or American Airlines miles. Feel free to comment or message me if you have any questions.
