The room cost 4,000 SPG points per night for a total of 8,000 SPG points. The cash cost for the nights we wanted to stay were $101, which works out to be about 2.5 cents per point. I typically try and get at least 2 cents per point on SPG stays.
The location of the hotel was right in the heart of Liverpool. It was about a 15 minute walk from the main train station. There were plenty of restaurants, museums, and shopping within walking distance.
The hotel used to be the office buildings for an insurance company. Some of the branding from the insurance company is still displayed throughout the hotel. It is an old building, but the interior has been refurbished to make it have a modern, sleek look.
We were upgraded a premium room, which was located on the floor above the lobby. You could tell the room had previously been the office of some important insurance executive. There were vaulted ceilings and the room just felt massive. The floor plan wasn’t quite big enough to house any additional furniture though. The king bed and the bedding were both pretty comfortable.
When you initially walked into the room the bathroom was to the left and you actually had to take two steps down to enter the bedroom. The entry way had some railing and is kind of hard to explain. I’ve never been in a hotel room setup the way this one was. There was actually a door that you could close between the bedroom and entryway to block some of the noise for the hallway.
The service at the hotel was good. We were checked in early and granted a late checkout, which was nice. We also used the gym once, which was in the basement of the hotel. It had free weights, a couple of machines, and a few ellipticals/treadmills.
The breakfast at the hotel restaurants was alright. They didn’t do a great job of replacing items once they were picked over. However, the eggs, bacon, and sausage were good, but I didn’t like the potatoes as much. They also served pretty much the same dishes the following morning so there wasn’t much variety.
We enjoyed our stay at the Aloft Liverpool. The location itself is enough of a reason to stay at this hotel. I would definitely recommend staying here especially at only 4,000 SPG points per night. Keep in mind it’s only 3,000 SPG points for weekend nights. Definitely worth it in my opinion!
