My wife and I met in college and got married shortly thereafter. We both work full-time for companies in the Seattle area. Neither of us have jobs that require any sort of travel (outside of our commutes to the office). We primarily earn points and airline miles via credit card sign up bonuses as well as other promotions. We use these points and miles to travel around the world at a discounted rate.
I consider travel hacking my primary hobby. It is one of the few hobbies out there that might actually be profitable. To me, travel hacking has two key components: earning points and spending points on travel. The end goal is to earn points at a relatively low cost in order to pay for flights/hotels. We aren’t necessarily flying first class (although it is on our travel bucket list) or staying at the nicest hotels. Instead, we prefer to spend our points and miles seeing as many places as possible and building experiences together. Our goal is to visit as many new places as possible before we settle down and have kids.
I will also share stories and information about other areas of our life besides travelling. As an accountant, I enjoy learning and writing about personal finance. This includes my experience with saving money, paying off debt, finding deals, investing, and side gigs to earn additional income. I am constantly learning new things and I hope that you might be able to learn a thing or two from my experiences.
This blog will be a place for me (and my wife, occasionally) to share our experiences in travel hacking, personal finance, credit cards, and trip reports. I love helping other people and sharing the tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. Feel free to comment or email me if you have any questions.
